About NICU Nutrition
Our Mission
At NICU Nutrition, our mission is to combat the critical healthcare disparities faced by preterm infants and their mothers. We are dedicated to promoting and facilitating breastfeeding, especially among preterm infants, to improve their overall health and well-being.
Our Vision
We envision a world where breastfeeding is universally supported and exclusive breastfeeding through six months becomes the norm for premature infants, exceeding the national average.
Our Philosophy
Our vision includes narrowing the racial/ethnic disparity in breastfeeding initiation, aiming for equity across the United States. Preterm infants, despite their vulnerabilities, deserve every opportunity to benefit from expressed breastmilk, reducing their risk of mortality, infections, and gastrointestinal complications.
Breastmilk is the most important gift you can give your premature infant
Your milk contains invaluable nutrients and immune factors that help your baby grow and develop, while lowering the risk of serious complications like necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). We're here to help you understand how to pump, store, and provide your milk during your NICU stay.
